S01 FAQ
Q1: Completed the FiT meter, when can the data be reviewed? When will the revenue calculation start?
Q2: Unable to check real-time status, is it a delay in CLP records?
Q3: How to know/calculate generation revenue?
Q4: If generation is unusually low compared to before, is there a problem with the system?
Answer
A3: If your total electricity generation for that day is 40 degrees (as shown in the CLP app), multiply it by the selling price you contracted with CLP (for example, $4). Thus, 40x4=$160 is your electricity generation income for that day.
A1: After the FiT meter is installed, earnings calculation will begin. The data can only be viewed after CLP's official connection (you will receive a "Completion Letter" see S02 for details), which takes approximately 5-7 working days.
A4: Sometimes, CLP data will fail, or even complete/partially no data, you can log in to check it after a while. If the problem persists and the situation permits, you can check the system by yourself (see S03 for details).If you find any problems or need assistance, please contact us immediately.
A2: Yes, the CLP meter transmits data to the CLP server via the network, and there might be delays due to regional network speeds, or it may only reflect data from about 1-2 hours ago.

After completing the FiT meter installation, the system will be connected in about 5-7 working days. You will receive a "Completion Letter", indicating your solar power system is fully completed.

A1: Can call the "CLP Customer Service" hotline: 2678 2678 (Monday to Sunday, 8:00 am - 8:00 pm) for inquiries. Or contact us for free inquiry on your behalf.
A2: Is not required to download, all records are already in CLP's data system and can be accessed anytime in the future.

For solar systems, the lifespan can range from over a decade to even longer. As the saying goes, "distant water cannot extinguish nearby fire." To ensure your system operates stably and delivers optimal performance over the long term, in addition to regularly checking the generation data through the CLP app, we have prepared this maintenance manual for you. It helps you understand system components, simple daily self-checks and maintenance methods, as well as the warranty policy during the maintenance period. For details about your system, you can refer to the "System List" and its attachments provided by us .As a responsible owner, maintaining the stability and safety of the system is our shared responsibility. The following provides a step-by-step explanation of the maintenance and inspection process. If you have any questions or need support in the future, please feel free to contact us.
支架與排水 Frame & Drainage
Your shed/support is part of...
1.5m or below
(For New Territories buildings only) or fixed (or non-fixed) solar panel mounting frames located on rooftops/ground floor (garden).
As the installation is on a New Territories exempted house roof and the system height (measured from the roof floor) does not exceed 1.5 meters, therefore no photovoltaic system safety certificate is required.
Detached Roof
Solar brackets covering the entire roof area, structurally engineered specifically for Hong Kong's typhoon-prone environment, complying with the "Minor Works Item 1.50" standards. We have submitted the "Certificate of Completion for Alteration and Addition Works" to the LD/BD and EMSD, confirming that your system brackets meet the specified requirements under the "Minor Works Control System," designating it as a "permanently legal" solar rooftop. Copies of the related certificates/documents can be reviewed in: "System List Annex: M/W FROM."
Village House Rooftop
2.5Ｍ-high aluminum frame covering half the total area of the rooftop, designed with structural calculations specifically for Hong Kong's frequent typhoon environment. Equipped with a diversion design to ensure effective drainage of rainwater and prevent water accumulation on the frame. We have submitted the "Safety Certificate" to the LD/BD and EＭSD, which proves that your system frame complies with the requirements specified for "Green and amenity facility for village house", making it classified as a "permanent legal" rooftop solar frame. Copies of the relevant certificates/documents can be found in "System List Attachment: C/PVS FROM."
Daily Maintenance: Aluminum structures generally do not require special care, just ensure to clear debris from drainage outlets/channels to maintain proper drainage.
Regular Inspection: It is recommended to conduct regular inspections (once a year) or after typhoons/heavy storms, when safe/permitted, check for any loosening, deformation, or damage; pay attention to whether fixing screws are secure, if there are water leaks at the base, etc. Also, check if drainage outlets/channels are blocked by large amounts of debris, and if drainage pipes have come loose. If assistance is needed or abnormalities are found, please take photos for documentation and contact us.

太陽能板 Solar Panels
LONGi solar panels, as a global leading solar brand, certified by IEC and TÜV, feature high conversion efficiency, strengthened glass with pressure-resistant and easy-to-clean coating, stable structure, and longer lifespan.
Daily Maintenance: Pay attention to whether the surface of the solar panels is covered with serious dust, bird droppings, leaves, or other debris, especially in areas with frequent dust or bird activity. Using appropriate cleaning agents or high-pressure water guns can help improve the absorption efficiency of the solar panels.
Regular Inspection: After typhoons or heavy rain, it is recommended to check, under safe/authorized conditions, for missing parts, cracks, damages, or debris impacts. Also, check whether connection components, photovoltaic wires, and waterproof joints are loose or misaligned. If any abnormalities are found, take photos as evidence and contact us.

逆變器 INVERTER
Growatt inverter is one of the internationally renowned brands, responsible for converting direct current (DC) generated by solar panels into alternating current (AC), featuring high conversion efficiency, sun-resistant casing and IP65 waterproof rating, passive cooling system, and multiple safety protection functions. During inspection, the first step is to observe the inverter, which is the "heart" of the entire system and best reflects the system's condition and performance.
>When there is sufficient sunlight, it will automatically start up with a "Green Light" indicator, indicating it is in operation. (*Solar voltage must reach above DCV160 to activate)
>The button in the middle of the display can be pressed sequentially to show different information, including "Today's power generation", "Total power generation" and other messages.
>The "today's power generation" shown by the inverter will have a difference from what is shown in the "CLP APP". The "CLP APP" shows the data "after deducting energy conversion", and revenue calculations are based on CLP data.
>Pay attention to the V-value of "PV1/2”, which is the real-time DC voltage being generated. It varies depending on the number of panels, sunlight intensity, and grid feed-in, so each customer's V-value is different.What is your normal V-value range? Please refer to the "System List" we provided for you, which has this information recorded.
>During nighttime or insufficient sunlight, it will automatically "turn off" to save power.
>The built-in cooling system in the unit will intermittently produce slight fan rotation sounds during operation, which is normal.
>After rebooting the system, wait for about 5 minutes before connecting to the grid (EMSD requirement). The display will show a countdown time. When completed, it will display: "Connection Successful" and a "Green Light" will illuminate.
Daily Maintenance: Suitable for outdoor use with no special care required, just maintain ventilation around the inverter and avoid severe water immersion.
Regular Inspection: Regularly check if the display screen or indicator lights are functioning normally; pay attention to any abnormal noise, overheating or error messages, connection components, wires/conduits, waterproof connectors for any loosening or displacement. If abnormalities are found, please take photos for documentation and contact us.
Hot Surface! Avoid touching the aluminum heat sink behind the machine.

直流箱 DC BOX
The total output of DC from the solar panels, featuring a robust shell made of 304 stainless steel, an IP65 rated waterproof and dustproof enclosure, built-in DC circuit breaker, fuses, diodes, and surge protectors, ensuring system safety and reliability.
Daily Ｍaintenance: Do not use chlorine bleach, ammonia, or strong acidic cleaners on stainless steel boxes, as these substances may damage the stainless steel surface and cause corrosion or rust. Daily cleaning with clean water is sufficient.
Regular Inspection: The circuit breaker configuration depends on the panel power, typically 1 set for DC Amp below 16A, 2 sets for above; the following will explain each in detail.
保險絲 Fuse
Is the first protective component in the system, which melts and cuts off the circuit when the current exceeds the safe range, providing immediate protection to system components from damage and preventing overheating or fire. As the first line of defense, it is also commonly damaged by lightning strikes/arc flashes and is therefore a component that is frequently replaced.
Little Knowledge Point> What is a lightning arc? It refers to the intense current formed in the air during a lightning discharge. Even if the lightning does not directly hit the solar panel, the electromagnetic pulse (EMP) produced by the arc can still conduct through wires and trigger a surge, causing the current to suddenly increase and blow the fuse.
Self-Check> It is difficult for general users to check by observation, but the quality can be assessed through the PV V value displayed by the inverter. If the V value is too low or even completely absent, it is likely that the fuse has blown.
Self-Replacement?> During the warranty period, we can certainly offer free on-site replacement (subject to terms and conditions).
> Although fuses are more commonly blown due to weather factors, the replacement cost is also very low. Even if the warranty period has passed, you can safely and legally replace it yourself, which is even simpler than changing a light bulb, achieving self-service and self-rescue.
Electric Shock Warning! > Especially when replacing fuses yourself, avoid touching the screws and related wiring of the diodes.

Replacement Tutorial:
直流斷路器 DC Circuit Breaker
Used to protect the DC circuits in solar energy systems, automatically disconnecting the circuit in the event of an overload or short circuit to prevent equipment damage or fire risks.
Little Knowledge Point> DC circuit breakers are different from AC circuit breakers. Since DC voltage has no natural zero crossing point, more force is required to extinguish the current during disconnection. Therefore, DC circuit breakers are designed to be more robust, specifically for DC applications such as solar energy systems.
Self-Check> Check for any looseness, scorching, or burnt smell, and whether it is in the "ON(Trun Up)" state. If a trip is detected, you may attempt to reset it yourself under safe/authorized conditions.
> If attempts to reset still fail/trip or any abnormality occurs, do not attempt to replace or repair it yourself. Please take photos as evidence and contact us.
防雷器 Surge Protector
Used as the second line of defense when the system suffers from direct lightning strikes/arc or voltage surges, directing excessive voltage to the ground to reduce damage to circuit breakers, inverters, solar panels, and other equipment.
Little Knowledge Point>Thunderstorm weather is common in Hong Kong, making the installation of lightning protectors especially important, particularly for solar systems in high-rise buildings or open areas. Lightning protectors are not one-time devices, but after enduring multiple lightning strikes or surges, their effectiveness may diminish, requiring regular inspections and timely replacements.
Self-Check>Check if indicator shows discoloration; pure white/green color (varies by brand) is normal. If partially red/colored, it indicates lightning strike. If fully colored, replacement is needed. Do not attempt to repair by yourself, please take photos for documentation and contact us.
二極管 Diode
Used in solar systems to prevent reverse current, ensuring that current can only flow in one direction, avoiding damage to the current or system caused by reverse flow, especially protecting the system during nighttime or low-light environments.
Little Knowledge Point> Diodes in solar energy systems often serve as "bypass diodes" or "blocking diodes," with the former preventing shadow effects from damaging the panels (within the solar panels) and the latter (within the DC box) preventing current from discharging at night; both are crucial for system efficiency and safety.
Self-Check>Diodes are more durable and less prone to damage components, requiring no special care under normal usage lifespan unless subjected to unnatural destruction.
Electric Shock Warning!> Especially when changing fuses by yourself, do not touch the screw connection part of the diode.
交流/Fit電錶箱 AC/Fit Meter Box
Stainless steel enclosure made to the requirements of CLP/EMSD. Used for collecting and distributing AC power output from inverters, connecting to the main grid, and incorporating FiT meters (dual power meters) and protection devices (such as circuit breakers or RCDs) to ensure safe system operation and prevent overload or short circuit.
Little Knowledge Point>What is a "dual power supply meter"? This is a bi-directional meter specifically designed for the "net metering" plan to separately and simultaneously settle the input and output data of the solar system and the main power grid. The display shows accumulated generation, accumulated consumption, and other data, which can usually be viewed in detail through the "CLP APP". Depending on the brand used by CLP, the meter model may vary slightly but the functionality remains the same. It has a built-in communication module that automatically uploads the power data to the CLP server (may be delayed due to regional network).
Self-Check > Check whether the dual power supply meter lights up, normally all 5 lights will be on.
> The first and second lights on the left represent voltage and signal; they flash intermittently during daytime operation.
> The third, fourth, and fifth lights on the left represent normal three-phase power input/output; regardless of whether solar power is operational, as long as it is properly connected to the main grid, the three lights will remain on steadily.
>Check if the 4 sets of switches are loose, charred, or have a burning smell; check if they are in the "On(Trun Up)" state.
>1. Left switch = 16A 4P MCB, responsible for supplying power to the solar system.
>2. Middle switch = 40A 4P RCD, responsible for leakage protection of the solar system.
>3. Right switch = 32A 4P MCB/isolation switch, responsible for connecting to the main power grid.
＞4. Additionally, a 3P MCB is installed in the main distribution box, also responsible for connecting to the main power grid, allowing solar electricity to power household appliances/CLP, achieving the purpose of selling electricity.
>If any group trips, the inverter will light up in "red". It can be attempted to restart under safe/permitted conditions.
> If attempts to reset still fail/trip or any abnormality occurs, do not attempt to replace or repair it yourself. Please take photos as evidence and contact us.
Daily Maintenance: Do not use chlorine bleach, ammonia, or strong acidic cleaners on stainless steel boxes, as these substances may damage the stainless steel surface and cause corrosion or rust. Clean with plain water for everyday cleaning.
Regular inspection: It is recommended to regularly check the switch components and wires/conduits for any looseness, tripping, displacement, etc. If there are any anomalies, please take pictures as evidence and contact us.
Attention to Dual power supply! If there are any other electrical repairs at home that require power outage in the future, be sure to remind the maintenance personnel that in addition to turning off the main control, the solar energy system must also be turned off simultaneously, otherwise there is a risk of electric current leakage from the solar electricity system (which normally would not happen), affecting the safety of personnel during operations.
The meter is owned and managed by the Power Company; do not make any unauthorized modifications or alterations (including by electrical personnel), as this is illegal.
隔離變壓器 Isolation Transformer
Features high-performance insulation and durable design, effectively isolating the solar power system from the main grid, preventing backflow or interference, enhancing safety, and the product is certified by international safety standards.
Little Knowledge Point>Is isolation transformer redundant? Other countries/regions don't use it, why is it only mandatory in Hong Kong?
Due to regulations from Hong Kong's power companies and EMSD, especially regarding DC injection restrictions which are extremely strict. Even though modern inverter technology has improved to include isolation functions, isolation transformers continue to be used as a conservative safety measure to provide multiple barriers preventing DC components from entering the power grid, avoiding damage or interference to main grid equipment.
Self-Check>The startup status is synchronized with the inverter, automatically turning on and off according to sunlight. When turned on, check if the indicator light is lit.
>Built-in temperature sensing system, when high temperature is reached (usually above 30 degrees), the cooling fan will automatically activate producing minimal wind rotation noise, which is normal.
>It is a durable product that requires no special maintenance under normal lifespan usage. However, from past experience, small animals and insects have entered the enclosure, causing damage to wires or cooling fans resulting in short circuits. If abnormalities occur, please take photos for documentation and contact us.
Daily Maintenance: Do not use chlorine bleach, ammonia, or strong acidic cleaners on stainless steel boxes, as these substances may damage the stainless steel surface and cause corrosion or rust. Daily cleaning with clean water is sufficient.
Hot Surface! In direct sunlight, metal surfaces becoming hot is a natural phenomenon (such as vehicle body and handrails). It is recommended to place a carpet/thick towel that matches the size on the top of the box, especially at corners/easily touchable areas (do not completely cover to allow heat dissipation), which can effectively prevent the burning sensation when touching.

Basic Warranty Scope: Performance degradation due to manufacturer/supplier factory issues or installation defects (beyond normal aging range). Structural damage (such as internal component breakage), caused by non-human or non-natural disasters.
Not Covered Under Warranty: Performance degradation caused by human damage, natural disasters, improper cleaning, or normal aging. Replacement/repair will be quoted separately based on the situation.
Basic Warranty Period: For details regarding the warranty terms and conditions, please refer to the "receipt/warranty certificate" we provided.
Exceeded Warranty Period: Regardless of whether it is within the warranty period, existing customers will receive a *customer discount for non-warranty repairs or emergency maintenance, new projects/services/merchandise, etc. (subject to terms and conditions).
